This picture is from Photokina 2008 - look at the label in the top left corner. It says "Leica R10 (coming soon...)"
Here is the picture.

R10 may come soon, but what does it mean ?
    the one on the line above is … R7 ! ! !
    Will R10 be a film camera ?

If R10 was to be a successor to R9, we had a chance to get a nice Digital camera incorporating S2 know-how, but here, let me have some sort of a doubt .

And it says that the R7 is showing the way forward for Digital R… So, do we get a smaller, more classic looking R10, and the bulkier R8/R9 are passed on to the S-system?
Sounds good to me, the R6.2 and the R7 are exactly what the R-system is meant to look like.

Did you read the text? It says that the R10 will be based on the technology from the S2. So quite clear that it will be digital.

Oh, darn! I must have passed that display without noticing that fine print. I was more interested in S2 & Leica moving back to Wetzler in 2010!

Hehe yeah – but it’s the R7 that’s on the display – so I guess it means the R10 will resemble that camera rather than R8/9 :)

At the very beginning, the new R8, R9, bodies were built on their own chassis not the Minoltas one, any more.
Originally, LEICA Designers were looking to add the Digital Back as we all know/DMR/.
So, in essence, R8, R9 were designed to be Digital, while, at the same time, it could be switched to Analog.
Logistically, the design of the new R10 should be based on those cameras, integral bod, though.
We have to wait to see what is going to happen?…
If LEICA desides to follow the design of their earlier cameras/design wise/, there is some Classic retro neat look to it,… it reminds me on M5, and they realize to come back to their old design.
in any case, the LEICA brilliant engeneurs know what they are doing and shall come to the best solution possible, based on their enduring tradition and the very best current technologies.
    Cheerz, Tomislav.
