This Panny has the Voigtlander 28/35 mini-finder and the lens cap mod. The point of this post @dpreview was to show that the flash can be used simultaneously with the viewfinder - same is valid for the Leica D-Lux 4.

Does the Leica D-Lux 4 have a better (e.g. Leica designed) lens, than the Lumix, or are they really EXACTLY the same camera (in which case I’m not interested)
To use this v28/35 mm iewfinder, you have to adjust the focal of the zoom at 28 mm or 35 mm. How can you do that accurately with a D-Lux 4 or a LX3?
I’m interested in getting a D-Lux 4.
just a stupid question for the day but what’s the point of attaching an optical viewfinder if it’s not attached to a mirror like in a dslr? coz u wouldn’t be able to see things like zoom or focus anyway? wouldn’t it better just to use the LCD?
it might be blindingly obvious to some but i’m a bit slow like this…
appreciate any input on this
oh and zach, as far as i know the lens on the lumix is also made by leica and should be the same as the one on this d-lux 4
but according to some websites, the leica produces better pics or better colour or something like that
so just paying extra for that, a better warranty and thebetter looks and admiring glances associated with owning a camera with a little red leica dot
there is a rumor that the glass/lenses have different coating:

Just to add one more reason why buy Leica vs Panny – the Leica keeps its value over time. Believe it or not last year I sold my Leica Minilux for more than I paid for 5 years ago.
Wils: “Whatever the reason, rangefinder cameras are particularly suited for quick grab-shooting. That helps explain why they remain popular with so many street photographers and photojournalists.”
