Finally a company that tries to communicate instead of blocking discussion and banning the virtual ‘free minds’. It is kind of funny to see this from a century old german ‘Unternehmen’ and not from all the cool and hip Apples, Sonys etc.

Mike, I agree 100% – I am happy to see Leica on twitter, facebook… and a live webcast… very good – I think they got a much bigger coverage that way. Every major website is covering the rumors/news…

Everyone who registers for the webcast get a free camera. They are going to find me and kill me now.

I had a funny feeling something like this was to happen. I think it’s great that a company like Leica is letting the younger people run things. This might just be the thing that will keep things going forward. However in noticing the Tweet, why is “Leica_Camera AG’s” location Greenland?

What I do know from this announcement is that people here often don’t know the difference between an apostrophe and an accent above whitespace…

With the leak/preview of the M9 brochure that got everyone into such a frenzy, I’d be very happy if Leica was able to pull yet another nice rabbit out of the hat. I didn’t know they were on Twitter. I’ll have to mark them on there.

Well, I was a little inaccurate with my initial guessing about the X1, which is fine. I agree with Mike about Leica’s step forward and beyond most other companies with the masterful PR over the last week or so. It’s a HUGE difference from how I have experienced them since that late 60′s.

Instead of the Leica Board back then deciding that, ‘Leica photographers know how to focus manually, why do they need auto-focus?’ They are now AWARE of the world around them and what they have to give to it – they are in great position to proceed forward. It’s great for everyone.

I’m thinking that the “leaked” brochure was not completely accurate… Perhaps the M9 looks a bit different from what we think we’ve discovered? That would be an interesting twist!

But the M9 does look different then the 8, it has a bit raised top.

And about the X1, if the image leaked was correct, its gona have a AF lens, there is no need for a manual focus lens with that small optics to be so fat in diameter. I still think that the X1 is just a GF-1 clone.

what do you think the pricing is going to be for the m9 and x1 ?

I indeed think the big surprise will be that the X1 is just a GF1 with a red dot. But we will know tomorrow..

Mmmm… there will be a red X1 or M9 with a black dot?? jeje.

Sooo what was it that we didn’t know?? We knew about the m9 and the x1 and of course the s2 has been known for a really long time. The prices? we already knew they were going to be really expensive so no big surprise there. Gee I really hope they weren’t referring to the fact that Seal gave a speech. Yes it was nice that he came out and talked about his love for leica but that does not warrant an announcement like “There is still something you don’t know”. reminds me of that Big ad campaign by Nikon where the BIG announcement was that they had a band that was going to play the event.
