Leica D-Lux 4: alive and well

Leica D lux 4 top Leica D Lux 4: alive and well

Update on the previous D-Lux 4 post: Leica informed me that the D-Lux 4 model is not discontinued and the reported back-order situation is caused by high demand. New shipment is expected any moment (right now Amazon has the DL4 in stock through a third party).

    Hi,

I have a D-lux4 and I’m happy to here that the camera isn’t discontinued. a question to the people here. I saw that panasonic LX3 has a very good Firmeware Update. for me is the lens resume a very usefull feature, because I have the external viewer and I like to shoot with 35mm, but to zoom on this position is very tricky.
Do you know, if leica will bring also an firmwareUpdate for the D-Lux 4? I hope it

    greetings

I join you for the firmware Looks. What i would like Leica to do is to permit to take picture at a 1.1 ratio.
The dlux4 is so good camera that its improvements from Leica would be so great.

This is what Leica wrote me three months after the last Panasonic update:

“I have found no confirmation that a corresponding firmware upgrade was necessary for the D-Lux 4. Please keep in mind that there are firmware differences between the two, and that an upgrade to the Panasonic camera does not automatically reflect on the needs of the Leica camera.”

My guess is that Jenoptik is too busy with the M9 – and that’s assuming Leica or their partner is actually handling D-Lux firmware updates rather than Panasonic themselves.

    Hi Paul,

I think this Upgrade is bigger than the upgrade before and I think Leica must do something. Yes they are very busy with M9 and X1 but they can’t forget the little brother. in many forums talk the people abiut this wish and I hope that some people from Leica read it…..
