    I guess it is certainly to optimize the lens performance on M9 (vignetting and aberation due to the angle of light rays to the sensor corners).
    I hope this lens will not have too much contrast, because it is not very pleasant for B&W photography.

    Duh, Regular, the 35 Summilux asph was designed for use with 35 mm film, which is the same size as the M9′s sensor so vignetting and aberration are already negligible.
