   Leica can afford to open multiple branches around the world because it has been feeding off from wealthy people who buys their product and doesn’t care how much it costs.
   Have you ever seen a successful professional photographer that shoots Leica full time? Certainly not. They use Canon or Nikon. Because they know that it is the best bang for their buck. Unlike the SUPER overpriced Leica.

   Let’s see this stores outsell the other camera shops. I’m sure people are still more likely to buy Leica’s from B&H or Adorama or other EU / Canadian stores.

   If Leica saved up it’s money, it could’ve offered discounts on their items especially during the economic crisis and upcoming holiday season. Instead they’ve wasted it on showrooms which I am betting that only enthusiasts will frequent. Leaving regular Joe or Jane envious of others who could afford.

   Hi,

   I am getting fed up with al those frustrated people around this website, who lamintate on the price of a Leica in comparison with a Canon 1ds MK3 en Nikon thingies and so on and so on..

   As a photographer i own a 1ds MK3, i als have a 1dsmk2 and a 5Dmk2, but we also use hasselblads H3D and V systems…

   And having acces to al those lovely technique i can tell you that there is only one camera you can take those Leica images with, and that’s a Leica!!!
   Yeah shure that 1dsMK3 is a Work Hourse, and yes that’s the camera ( to gether wit the hassies) that does moest of hour work…

   But that’s not the freaking POINT… !!!

   Leica makes your hart go faster!, I’ve got a freaking Leica Logo Tatoo!!! Leica is a Range finder, that’s a unique key. Leica has a noise that makes your blood stream with high presure … Leica lets you fall in love over and over again when you take an image.
   You don’t use a Leica to earn your money with, You use your Leica to tell a story. To translate your emotional feeling. That no OTHER !! NO OTHER, camera can give you… You simply can’t work rationaly with a Leica…

   And ok it costs money, so what, if you have to ask you can’t afford it..
   But don’t destroy the dream of a leica by comparing it with a use and throw away 1dsmk3….

   It’s in a completely different leage…!!!
   It talks about Joye de vivre!!!

   You are very passionate about Leica products. I can see all the “cult” like devotion emanating from you.

   Like you said, Canon / Nikon are workhorses. They earn you the money. And Leica is for telling stories. Sure it makes you some money. But not majority of it.

   Which is my point from the beginning.

   Why not make Leica more affordable so that you could make it a workhorse and completely throw away your other brand gears?

   No? It’s in a different league? How? Leica M9 compares itself to Canon 1Ds Mark III and Nikon D3x. You put their products in another league. But Leica themselves develops products to directly compete with this so-called other leagues.
