Antarctica is an absolutely amazing place to photograph; truly. But get ready for sea sickness as you cross the Drake Passage . . . Definitely need some wide-angled lenses.

I love the M9 but if you HAVE to choose between one or the other, Antarctica! Cameras are for capturing life experiences, which is higher on my priority list than the ability to capture them :) Or, better yet, get a used Leica M7 or M6, and you’ll take some wonderful pictures anyway :) If you are looking for cheaper alternatives there are many tour operators for Antarctica. The cheapest way to go is to get yourself to Ushia, and check for any immediate departing vessels that still have empty rooms to sell; they will usually slash prices by 40% or more. Of course, this would require some schedule flexibility on your part.

haha….true, but then again a Leica will last a lifetime and be a part of many more experiences…I wish both options were more affordable hehe

great tips tho on alternate travel routes, I’ll have to keep those tucked away somewhere for future reference ;-)
