Looking for a Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH lens

 Looking for a Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux M ASPH lensUpdate #2: a silver 50mm Lux is available here.

Update: This store in Taiwan had a silver 50mm Lux just few days ago (may still have it in stock). In addition a reader in Paris is selling his two months old silver 50mm Summilux ASPH - his email is: agreenman (at) jhminternational (dot) com.

The Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH lens (6 bit coded) has been difficult to find since the M9 was released.

B&H, Adorama, Amazon and KEH are all out of stock. Ebay has currently two ongoing auctions and the price is up to $2700.

If you are aware of a store (or a private party) that has this lens or the M9 for sale, sent me an email or just add a comment to this thread and I will post it online.

    Well, you can probably get a new one from one of the German Leica dealers. Euro is under pressure right now so if you won’t mind getting a new one, now is as good of a time as any. German purchased Leica products have worldwide warranty. I have a silver Summilux 50mm ASPH 6-bit coded with leather pouch, but no box. I’ve toyed with the idea of selling it since I have the Noc and also the Cron, but I really hate to let go of such a wonderful lens.

    @50 lux: I am happy to forward you my contact in Germany if you like; do you have an e-mail that you care to share? I am sure he woudn’t mind but I hesitate to publish his contact info without his permission. Otherwise, you can always start with the Leia Store in Solms:

    Leica Store
    Oskar-Barnack-Straße 11
    D-35606 Solms
    Phone: 06442/208-712
    Fax: 06442/208-360

    There are numerous Leica dealerships in Germany; it’s not difficult to look them up and let your finer do the walking :)

    @Eric:

    Yes it is a bit funny I have all three 50mm lenses (though I guess I don’t have the Summarit). The Lux was my first 50mm lens, which I purchased for my M6 before the M9 was introduced. I was lucky and came across a fella whoe sold it to me for $2,200 (and that included a filter). Then, when I wanted a smaller lens for traveling, I kept my eyes open for a cron. I came across a fella on Craigslist offering the latest version for sale with box etc for $1,100; again I couldn’t resist the deal. Then, I came across a listing for the f/0.95 which, in combination with eBay promotons and Bing promotions at the time, netted me the lens for a little over $9K. Again, a decent deal I thought. So here I am, through a series of deal event, ended up with three 50mm lens. Realizing this is at least one too many, I have considered selling one of them, but just haven’t been able to decide which one. Of course I don’t take more than one with me at a time; it just depends where I am shooting, the subject matter of what I am shooting, time of day, etc. I typically take two lens with me, a 50mm and a wide. What I wouldn’t mind getting another one of, is another M9; the luxury of having two bodies is hard to quit when I’ve done it for so long, especially given how compact and light the M system is. That said, I can’t justify as easily buying another digital camera that will certinly depreciate over time, whereas the Leica lenses (indeed all my lenses) have truly held their value and is alomst as good as gold to hedge against this hyper inflation that is everyone thinks is coming our way!

    I sold my only 35mm lens (the Summilux ASPH) just recently for a decent price (more than I paid), having almost never reached for it and also in anticipation of the new version that supposedly will correct the focus shit issue (thanks for the heads up, LR).

    @leicamonster:

    How do you like the Lux 24mm? (I see you have it in your collection); any reason you chose that over the Lux 21mm?

    @Raz & @David – can you post the URL to the store? I think this is what 50LUX was asking for.

    Maybe I will start a topic on the forum so we can share this type of information.

    Lenses are as good as investments so go for it lol. Imagine the lucky bastards that got a hold of the nikkor 13mm … what I would give my left arm for…

    @LR: I don’t have an URL for the store, I just have an e-mail which I don’t think I have permission to just publish on the Internet. If there is a private way to communicate that information to 50 Lux I will do so. That said, as I wrote it should not be difficult to look up Leica dealers in Germany.
