Leica look-alikes

I noticed lately that more and more new cameras are  trying to bring back the "classic" (Leica) look. Was this trend triggered by the Leica M9? Here are two models that just got released in Japan:

GH-TCAM30C camera from Green House:

ViviCam 8027 camera from Vivitar:

Then we have the Fujifilm X100 camera (see the latest Q&A update):

There were also some rumors that Epson might be working a new digital rangefinder.

Nothing comes close to a Leica. The Germans are a canne lot. Their design is considered and calculated. The design of the M9 is based on decades of Leica development. While these cameras look cute they haven’t got the elegance, deft touch and provenance of a Leica. ;-)

    Yeah these are near-perfect Leica-copies.
From the forties on they actually made a lot of nice-looking cameras –some of them even good performers. Leica and Robot stood out –but DID Leica survive? The everyday question here…
Fuji does a very good job in building a classic digital camera that could have the feel of a traditional camera –quality is to be seen.
