Leica is still working on the X1 firmware update, will not be released this month

Leica is till working on the firmware updated for X1 and according to this Facebook post, the update will not be released this month (January):

Some of the expected improvements are faster AF and improved manual focus.

    But the know that the cam is almost 18 Month old and in the digital world, photo-friends that are interested in technics and quality, usualy update they photo-hardware after 18-24 months?

    This should give X1 a new lease of life.

    I wouldn’t be surprised if the update surfaces mid February

    From what I’ve heard nearly everywhere, the X1′s main glitch is the s l o w autofocus, or lag time for the shutter release.

    That’s something I still don’t understand – didn’t they know that before it’s release, and can a firmware update even fix that?

      That’s OK, the Fujifilm X100 will be out around March, that will fix it.

          I do not see what is so funny about having a slow reacting camera, especially when it comes from Leica?…and especially when we recall that Cartier-Bresson used to choose Leica brand for (but not only) the reactivity of the cameras they made…
          Seriously, the slow AF and reactivity of the X1 was the main reason why I did not buy it… and I am waiting for the first tests of the fujiX100 to see wether it will be faster or not…
