Robertwhite (a major UK retailer) published on their website that the Leica MP and MP à la carte production is temporarily halted till early 2012 "due to the discontinuation of an integral component":

    Note it says both the MP and MP à la carte have had production halted, not just à la carte.

    What’s the componenet? Can’t be the shutters as the M7 and MP’s use different shutters.

    Finder mechanism??? Hard to imagine a camera so old in it’s basic design that a component supplier would suddenly be an issue – or that they don’t make everything themselves for the M by now. Oh well, hurry up and wait some more,,,,,,,
