Alternative Phottix 0.85x and 1.25x viewfinders magnifiers for Leica M rangefinders  Alternative Phottix 0.85x and 1.25x viewfinders magnifiers for Leica M rangefinders

After I just came across this new USB 3 card reader from Phottix, I realized that they also sell 0.85x and 1.25x viewfinder magnifiers for Leica M rangefinders for $69 each (for comparison, the original Leica 1.25x costs $299):

Leica carries also a 1.4x viewfinder magnifier.

Well, I ordered it because I wear glasses so the distance is to big to see the 28 mm frame. This thing just increases the distance – it looks small on the pictures but it is quite big or let’s say long…
Besides – the optical quality is terrible as well as the whole thing.

Leica needs to make a reducer so the 28mm frame lines are visible like on the 0.58.

Maybe Leica NEEDS to design a NEW finder so that isn’t an issue instead of continuing to use/sit on a design from 1954. Heaven forbid they should step forward a few years to make it a BETTER camera.

Wouldn’t hurt. Might even help – come on Leica, it’s okay, really, it is….try it, we (and you) may actually like it.

Leica needs to humbly learn from the Zeiss on how to improve viewfinders. The Ikon’s viewfinder is amazing for glasses wearers due to the larger size and eye point.

Oh dear, I ordered it. I don’t wear glasses so just ordered it for shooting with a 90 and even for the super focus ability it should give a 50 (I got the 1.25). Going to hope for the best!

Oh dear indeed. I just received it. It is completely useless. It distorts the viewfinder massively (feels like I am putting on someone’s prescription glasses that are not meant for me. I have 20/20 vision and I can’t even use it. Lord help you if you have glasses. Straight to the bin. Bye bye cash :(
