The Leica M Monochrom ($7,950) was named as “Editor’s Choice Award” in American Photo’s annual “Gear of the Year” feature. The camera received a two-page spread in the December 2012 issue:

In the “Editor’s Choice Awards,” the feature story of American Photo’s annual “Gear of the Year” issue, the editors of American Photo choose the ten products that reshaped the world of photography in 2012. The Leica M Monochrom is featured first and its technical specifications are discussed. That the camera is deemed culturally relevant and technically superior to B&W images taken by color cameras.

    The editor also chose a Nikon Coolpix that posts directly to Facebook. It’s easy for MM to stand out.
