At the 2013 NAB show in Las Vegas Leica will announce a new line of Summicron-C cinema prime lenses. After the Summilux-C series, the new Summicron-C lenses will offer lower priced solution for ARRI-PL mount cameras. The new lenses will have the same size, diameter and (nearly) the same weight, priced at 17,000$ (in comparison to the 25,000$ price tag for the Summilux-C lenses). The new Summicron-C cinema prime lenses (T-Stop of 2.0 instead of the 1.4 of the Summilux) are expected to be pretty contrasty, warmer than the Zeiss Ultra Primes, compact as Zeiss HS and incredibly sharp wide open.

FDTimes has some "spy shots" of the pre-production 25mm and 75mm Leica Summicron–C lenses (see images above).

My question is which lens was used to take the first two photos… pretty decent bokeh for a large aperture lens! 75 summicron?

EXIF data say Leica M9, 75mm lens, ISO 1,600, 1/1,000th and 1/500th shutter speed. No aperture reported.

So Summilux-M or Apo-Summicron-M or Summarit-M. Indeed, I very much doubt Leica would use a Voigtländer Heliar f/1.8 or Color Heliar f/2.5 to take these pictures :) .

I also saw the 75mm part in the EXIF… also, pretty bad case of the high ISOs isn’t it? :)

I almost asked the same thing too! I like the soft 3D look to it

Now on point – what the subject of the article is about. These cine lenses will be great. I wonder if the PL mount to Nikon mount will keep electronic contact. I also wonder how long until rental houses have them.

Leica and lower cost option are not words I’ve ever heard in the same sentence before.

Lower cost as in cheaper then the Summilux, in fact if you look at their M lenses, the Crons are cheaper then the Luxs.
