The Leica Boutique (Foto Henny Hoogeveen) located in The Netherlands has listed a stainless steel Fake Leica sculpture by the Chinese artist Liao Yibai for sale. It seems that two different sized sculptures are available. Pricing is not listed on their website (available upon request) but a similar sculpture located at the new Leica LA store is said to be valued at $1 million.

Update: the small Fake Leica pictured above is priced at $150,000.

Some additional information on the Fake Leica can be found here and here.

  • Wut?

Can I pay fake money for it?

Looks like a lot of effort has been out into the fakes. However the original is vulgar so the copies are worse by default

    • Duarsch

This is only a “vulgar” copy of a “LAica” as we can see from the sketches.

Why get the “fake” when you can get the “real” one for a measly $7000?

Nice “LAica”. Let’s see if next time they hire an artist who at least knows the proper name of the company commissioning the work.
