New Leica Boutique opened at Casanova Foto in Barcelona:

Leica represents the fusion of craftsmanship, technology and experience in the photography world. Some of the most renowned photographers in history, such as Henri Cartier-Breson, Robert Capa, Català-Roca or Sebastiao Salgado, have portrayed the story with a Leica in their hands.

The cameras manufactured by this prestigious German brand have also transcended the world of photography and have become an expression of art, philosophy of life, and even of a social status, and they have become a makes them a object of worship, not just for professional photographers but also for collectors and photo enthusiasts.

Since its inception in the early 70's, Casanova Foto has been a landmark for those who wanted to find expert advice and to see up close one of these cameras. Among the gems of its collection are limited editions as a Leica M8 White, a Hermès special edition of the Leica MP or historical Leica Oskar Barnack.

The latest models of the German brand are also present at the Leica Boutique, as the Leica M Monochrom, exclusively for black and white photography, the new compact camera Leica X-Vario, the amazing Leica S2 and the flagship of the brand, the Leica M. And of course, the entire great Leica lens range, such as the extraordinary Leica Noctilux-M 50 mm f/0.95 ASPH.

The Casanova Foto store is located in Ronda Universitat 35, next to the Plaza de Catalunya and close to luxurious commercial and touristic hub of the Paseo de Gracia.

I read about these shops opening – what do they sell? X Varios? Or is it just to look at M 240′s?

In thin case, The “Leica Boutique” is inside huge a photo store were you can buy all kinds of photo hardware, from the latest camera gear from the major brands to antique PinHole cameras. So I guess for them is more of a traffic generator to the store…

Makes more sense then, because why open a dedicated Leica boutique in a country that’s on the verge of going broke…

The rich don’t usually go broke, normal people do.
But normal people don’t buy Leicas do they?

I am normal and I do have one, but I saved for *many* years to get it. I am sure I’m not the client that will keep this kind of shop open.
