Leica teams up with QuizTrail for interactive London photo trail
Leica Store City, based at 18 The Royal Exchange, has joined forces with QuizTrail, the popular trail-setting App for iPhones, to create an interactive photo walk through the City of London.

On 20 January 2016, participants will be able to explore the City from a new perspective on a secret walking trail, starting at Bank tube station, and culminating at Leica’s Royal Exchange store.

The route will take photographers through the heart of the City, with the QuizTrail app posing engaging questions at waypoints along the route. As the questions are answered within the iPhone app, new parts of the trail will be revealed. A host of photo opportunities will be presented along the way, and the participant who captures the best image on the day will win a signed copy of the ‘London Life’ book by celebrated photographer, Colin O’Brien.

Participants can register for the Leica Trail at QuizTrail.com and the QuizTrail App can be downloaded from the iTunes Store here: QuizTrail App

Although the app is free to download, the Leica Trail will cost £2 to enter, with Leica donating the proceeds to its company charity, PhotoVoice.

The walk is expected to take 20 to 30 minutes, and participants will build their score as they answer each question correctly. Leica will also present the winner of the best score on the day with a special prize.

The Leica Trail can be followed at any time between 11am and 7pm on Wednesday 20 January, and there is a Leica gift for every participant who completes the walk. As a bonus for those finishing between 6pm and 7pm, refreshments will be waiting for them at the end of the route.

How the QuizTrail App works

The Leica Trail will draw participants into the detail of what they can see around them – perhaps views they have seen many times, but have never really considered from a photographic perspective. Brief directions will guide the photographer along the route, and red or green lights on their phone will advise them whether or not they are heading in the right direction. ‘Hints’ are provided if the participant requires additional help. Trail participants are recommended to work at a pace that suits them, having their knowledge of the surroundings gently tested during the walk. Those taking part will be encouraged to stop and take photos at certain locations.
