So are we keeping track of the people who claimed that their sources informed them that the leaked pictures of the M10 are fake? I vote we call them out on the 18th 😉 Having visited this site pretty much every day for many years now, my money is on Leica Rumors having gotten it right a few weeks ago.

On the International Leica forum, this post #269 shows the english translation performed with Google translator. Within the text the sentance “and new additional focusing methods” appears. Very interesting!

    • Ok, this is really interesting. A few weeks ago I received a tip that Leica is working on a new adapter that will autofocus M lenses, but this will not be for the M10 but rather the next M after the M10.
There are already adapters that can autofocus M lenses on Sony a7:

      • MdB

Wouldn’t that be more likely for the SL / TL?

        • Could be, it was an anonymous tip and I decided not to publish it online.

      • Kenneth Johansen

        Leica M11?

        • Not sure, even if this was true, we are years away from it.

      • John Görten

At the moment, this AF adapters for M lenses (TECHARTPRO) work only very well with cameras that have phase detection AF, so only with Sony A6300, A7ii and A7Rii. I’m using a lot my 50mm APO Summicron on the A7ii and the results are very good. However its more fun to shoot with the manual M, but sometimes I do not have the time to get the rest to do accurate MF!

    • MdB

Would that really say everything it does about an unannounced camera? Surely it’s talking about the M240 (which that same description would fit).

      • That is absolutely correct.

      • RRDiaz

Yes, that would be a possibility.

  • Glenn Ficarra

I guarantee you that they acquired Konost and their digital rangefinder overlay idea.

    • Was the Konost thing more than just an idea? Did they really have anything worth acquiring?

      • Glenn Ficarra

The administrator finally started responding to comments again a week ago and said something to the effect that they were still moving forward. Even if it was just an idea, that method of focusing was theirs so it would make sense if Leica acquired it to get the IP.
Conjecture- but it would explain the lack of communication from Konost and the delay from Leica. And their sudden reimergence at the same time.
…or just wishful thinking from a bored guy with an iPhone

        • MdB

I think they aren’t ready, it’s as simple as that. But the idea is perfectly sound and relatively easily implemented.

I think it should have been done with E-Mount though (or similar) with an M-Mount adapter.

        • Correlation grumble grumble, causation grumble grumble.

    • CHD

It would be nice….but I doubt it.

      • CHD

Actually…I was just on Konost’s webpage and in the comments section they have lot’s of cryptic posts about how the project ‘isn’t dead’ etc etc. They say the following:

‘Yeah, we’re in a strange stage where we operate in stealth-mode but also
want to share with the public. The reason for stealth mode is because
things constantly evolve as we develop. That makes it difficult to post
status updates that wouldn’t be confusing (or at times conflicting).”

Maybe you’re onto something…if they were working with Leica they wouldn’t be able to talk about it…

        • This just doesn’t make any sense. Very strange.

  • Glenn Ficarra

  • Bo Dez

The FCC Filing picture is not fake. But – the body in the picture could be a cobbled together prototype body and not indicative of what we are going to see.

    • I am not sure if they can do that – I think the have to deliver an actual/real/working camera for testing and certification. I don’t think they can make any changes after the test is completed.

      • Bo Dez

Interesting. We’ll see soon at least.

  • Need money for an M

    Finger crossed…
I wish this is all about a brand new hybrid viewfinder for M… I would kill for that

    • Well, the viewfinder does appear to be bigger compared to previous M models, so we should see.

      • Need money for an M

however, I would still be very pleased if Leica will go back to 0.72x, despite no hybrid tech

  • MZ

But if it uses SL’s sensor, then I’d go straight to Hassy X1d

  • nemo295

I hope Leica does something special with the sensor in the M10 and doesn’t simply give it the same one that’s in the SL. There’s nothing wrong with the SL’s sensor, but the M series is Leica’s flagship line and deserves to be cutting edge.

    • CHD

I’m an M240 owner but I would argue that for FF format the SL is the flagship camera, it’s superior to the M240 in most aspects.
