New Leica camera with code name 5370 to be announced in the next few months

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has just registered a new, not yet announced, Leica radio module (Wi-Fi, IEEE 802.11 b/g/n) that is intended to be mounted on a digital camera model number 5370. This new Leica 5370 camera uses the BP-DC13 battery which is also used in the Leica T and TL. The size of the new camera suggests a model slightly taller than the current T/TL:

  • the dimensions of the new Leica 5370 are: 134mm wide x 74.7mm high x 33mm deep
  • the dimensions of the current Leica T and TL are: 134mm wide x 69mm high x 33mm deep with the trigger on top of the top plate
  • the dimensions of the Leica 5370 are therefore identical to those of the Leica T and TL with the exception of the height: it is 5.7mm taller

Leica requested most of the details (external and internal photos, user manual, etc.) to be kept confidential till September 3rd, 2017.
