→ DC.Watch interview with Stefan Daniel on the new Leica M EV1:
Q: Why did you decide to name it the Leica M EV1, a separate series, instead of the Leica M11-XX?
A: We wanted to make it clear that this was not just a variation of the Leica M11. When we imagined how the inclusion of an EVF would expand the applications of M-series cameras, we felt that a new world could be opened up. As this was the first M-mount camera equipped with an EV (Electronic Viewfinder), we named it the “Leica M EV1.”
→ Phototrend’s interview with Cyril Thomas from Leica:
Q: Is it possible to have a viewfinder that is both rangefinder and electronic?
A: Not on this version. As for the future, I don’t know. When you think about the evolution of the M, you can imagine many things. For the moment, we have an electronic viewfinder that works very well.
