The Chinese manufacturer Kipon announced that they will start selling their third party M-mount lens adapter for Fuji X-Pro1 cameras later this month - right on time for the March 28th release date of the X-Pro-1 camera. The original Fuji M-mount adapter is expected to start shipping later this year.

The Poly Plug® is a red polymer spacer, ahead of the set screw. The Poly Plug® is so unique it is being patented.

Beautifully machined from aircraft alloy aluminum and stainless steel, the MP-Winder® blends elegantly with the camera body. No unsightly gap at the camera's bottom. The original knurled knob is hidden, and undamaged. Rather than being clipped off flat at the back, a counterbored setscrew hole allows for a continuous curve.

Incorporating a very thin wall completely surrounding the rewind knob, the MP-Winder® drops on smoothly at installation. Even when raised for rewinding, MP-Winder® looks like an integral part of the camera, not an "add on". A crisp diamond knurl on the handle provides an immediate and much more positive grasp.

An undercut design makes telescoping unnecessary. MP-Winder® achieves the same low profile as Leica's rewind crank. The lack of telescoping, with its inherent slack, results in a smoother cranking action. Better grasp eliminates the tendency to push the winder down, which could damage the camera body.

Leica, however, states that their rewind crank fits "most" M2s and M3s, so they must know that some cameras had knurled knobs that were oversized, or some other inconsistency. I just received an answer to my question from two days ago - soon you will able to use your Leica M lenses on the upcoming Fuji X-Pro 1 mirrorless camera. Fuji will announce their own M-mount adapter for the X-Pro 1. The price of the X-Pro1 body is $1.699. The camera will also have two optical magnification options: x0.37 for wider lenses and x0.60 for other lenses.

The mirrorless Fuji X-PPO 1 camera leaked on Wells Fargo's website and Responses Photo magazine. It will be interesting to see if a third party company will produce a Leica M-mount lens adapter for the X-PPO 1. Does anyone see a technical reason why such adapter is not feasible?

The Japanese company Adplus (gizmon.com) went a step further than the Leica iPhone stickers and designed a real Leica screw mount inspired case for iPhone 4/4s (similar to this Leica i9 concept). The Gizmon iCA has an optical viewfinder, shutter button, conversion lens mount, tripod socket and strap holes:

There is a new solution form Walter RX Eyepiece for rangefinder cameras users who suffer from astigmatism:

This is an ingenious little device that solves two big problems. Your optical deficiency, and astigmatism. Now, using this device, you are able to put your eye up close to the eyepiece, allowing you to see the full frames in the finder and in the case of the Leica M9 or M8, you can clearly also see the illumination arrows indicating the exposure. Next Fuji camera: a baby M9?

Two days ago Fujifilm announced their plans for a new mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses. The new X system camera will be a "premium" camera" with “resolution and low noise that will surpass the 35mm full size sensor”. There were some speculations that Fuji may actually use Leica's M mount for their upcoming mirrorless camera (FYI: Fuji did produce Leica L39 mount lenses in the past).

The Leica M mount design is currently in the public domain and is no longer protected by any patents (the term of a patent is typically 20 years):

I was actually expecting holders like the one provided with the Leica M9 Titanium limited edition to hit the market right after the camera was announced last year. A reader just sent me a link to Wotancraft.com that makes just that - "Leica M pistol holder":
