   Suddenly there is a dearth of information about developments from Leica. The leaks we have experienced in the last couple of weeks appear to me to be a carefully orchestrated campaign by Leica to generate interest in their very pricey cameras and lenses. Tomorrow is introduction day and over the weekend there have been no substantive rumors to illuminate more than what we expected from Leica. They have played us like a finely tuned string orchestra.
   The M9 was a foregone conclusion as the M8 and 8.2 needed the improvements offered in the new camera in order to have a chance of survival in the very competitive high end market which does include Nikon and Canon both of whom have pricey full frame cameras. As for the X1 little is known about it and even less about a camera that would “satisfy the owners of R lenses.”
   We have been had.
