Leica 35mm Summilux-M f/1.4 ASPH lens listed as new (updated)

Update #2: here is the response I got from Digitalrev:

Dear Leica Rumors,

Just to clarify the post regarding the NEW 35mm Summilux-M ASPH:

– The product image was mistakingly linked to the 35mm Summilux-R and has now been changed.

– This is for the current 35mm Summilux-M ASPH, not the anticipated NEW one.

– The NEW label on the product thumbnail is something that we put on recently uploaded products.

Apologies for any confusion caused.

Best regards,

DigitalRev

Update: the shown picture is from the 35mm 1.4 lens for R series but not the specs, they are from the current 35mm 1.4 version. This is probably a placeholder for the new model (it is labeled as “NEW”).

Product Details

This lens is among the very best in terms of sheer quality of design. Its exceptional picture performance in such a compact package is an outstanding achievement of Leica’s aspherical technology. The hallmarks of this remarkable lens include high contrast, superb detail rendition across the image field, excellent flatness of field, and very low coma – all at virtually the same quality even at distances down to 0.7 meters (28 in). The 35 mm focal length is already the standard for many Leica photographers. Ultra-high speed paired with outstanding optical characteristics and compact dimensions make this Summilux a universal wide-angle lens. Its uses range from medium-distance portrait photography to landscape shots. We can recommend it without reservation as a top lens, best suited for available light photography.

The outstanding imaging performance of this very compact lens is due to the application of aspherical technology. It delivers high contrasts, excellent detail rendition over the entire image area, good field flatness, and it has extremely low coma. Because all these qualities remain practically unchanged in the close-up range down to 0.7 m (28 in), this Summilux lens is the universal wide- angle lens. Its applications range from portraits at medium distances all the way to landscape photographs. The 35 mm lenses are already considered to be standard lenses in the Leica M system. With its large aperture, this lens masters all photographic situa- tions superbly.
