Adobe Lightroom 5 now comes with all Leica S, M, X, V and D-Lux cameras

The new Adobe Lightroom 5 image editing software now comes with all Leica S, M, X, V and D-Lux cameras. Leica Camera AG made an official statement few weeks ago but for some reason I missed it and did not cover it on the blog:

Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 5, the latest release of the powerful image-processing software, is now a part of the software package supplied with the current camera models of the Leica S, M, X, V and D-Lux lines. This software is available to Leica camera owners as a free download from the Leica website after registering their new purchase in the owners area.* Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 5 is considered to be the most professional image-processing software currently available, and guarantees ultimate picture quality when used in combination with images captured with Leica cameras and lenses. Its powerful tools enable fast and efficient image organisation, optimisation and presentation options.

Leica Camera AG has maintained a successful cooperation with Adobe Systems Incorporated for many years. Our mutual aim is to provide customers with perfect image quality and intuitive workflow solutions. In this, Leica attaches great importance to the future-proof Adobe RAW format, DNG (digital negative).

Leica cameras are fully integrated into the Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 5 workflow (for example, with colour and lens profiles). In addition, the speed and stability of tethered shooting with Leica S/S2 and S2-P medium-format digital cameras has been further improved. What’s more, the new release features an extended repair brush function, automatic correction of converging verticals with a single click, the Radial Filter for off-centre vignetting effects and Smart Previews (for processing individual images not in the catalogue). Other new features include functions for video slide shows (the integration of video sequences in slide shows) and for the creation of photo books.

*Please note: This download is only available to customers who have purchased and registered a new Leica digital camera (excluding V-Lux 40).

If you have an old version of Lightroom, the LR5 upgrade costs $79.
