Some of LR readers were correct – the U in the Leica X-U Typ 113 model is for “underwater”. Here are some additional information and technical specifications of the first Leica X waterproof and shockproof camera:

• Waterproof to 15m / 49ft
• Shockproof up to 1.22m / 4ft drop
• 35mm f/1.7 ASPH lens with manual focusing ring
• Built-in flash
• Anti skidding rubber armoring for better grip
• Made in Germany

I believe the official announcement will be before the end of the year.
