Leica is rumored to announce a new Summaron-M 28mm f/5.6 lens.
Summaron is an old lens design that dates back to 1954 (see Summaron lens listings on eBay):
“The earliest batches were in screw mount, possible in 1954, bayonet mount version was produced along with the LSM. A LEICA M3-specific model with a dedicated ocular attachment was produced for models due to lack of 35mm bright frame line later in 1956. According to Leica hand book, there are fixed focus Summaron for MD/MDa.” (source)
At 28mm f/5.6, this will most likely be a pancake-type M lens – very light and compact. Stay tuned for more information.
