Leica Camera Returns as the Official partner of ‘La Semaine de la Critique’ at Cannes Film Festival 2017

For the second year, the company will be honoring the best newcomer at the internationally acclaimed film festival in Cannes, France, with the ‘Leica Cine Discovery Prize’

April 25, 2017 – This year, Leica Camera will be the Official Partner of “La Semaine de la Critique” at the Cannes Film Festival for the second time in succession, and will be awarding the “Leica Cine Discovery Prize” together with its affiliate, CW Sonderoptic GmbH.

The “La Semaine de la Critique” (taking place from May 18-26, 2017) focuses on the work of young and innovative filmmakers and is considered to be one of the world’s most influential film festivals. As in the previous year, Leica Camera and CW Sonderoptic GmbH will be awarding the “Leica Cine Discovery Prize” to express their commitment to supporting and promoting young talent. The two companies will present the prize, with a cash value of 4,000 euros (approximately $4,300 USD), to the best newcomer in the Short Film category on May 25, 2017.
