Leica Camera Releases New Leica D-Lux Explorer Kit with Improved Accessories

High-performance compact camera now available with automatic lens cap and rope strap

March 14, 2018 — Leica Camera is now offering the versatile Leica D-Lux camera in a brand new set. In addition to the camera, the set includes accessories such as an automatic lens cap and improved Leica Rope Strap in a vibrant red.

The intelligently designed lens cap enables users to take pictures at any time without having to remove the cap from the lens. The shutters of the lens cap open up automatically as soon as the lens is extended and the camera is ready to shoot. This design ensures that the lens cap never gets in the way, even for spontaneous snapshots with the zoom lens. Adding a touch of style to match unparalleled functionality, a red Leica Rope Strap, designed by COOPH, is also included in the set. Simultaneously robust and elegant, the carrying strap ensures safe and comfortable carrying of the camera in every situation. The strap is made from the same material used for climbing ropes, and features elements in Italian leather.

The Leica D-Lux included in the set still boasts the same impressive technical specifications as those of the standard model. Fitted with a Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9–34 mm f/1.7–2.8 ASPH.lens, the camera delivers the highest quality pictures with natural color rendition. Its versatile zoom lens (24 to 75 mm equivalent in 35 mm format) makes it a universal tool for almost all genres of photography. From portraits to landscapes, architecture to macro and reportage, the zoom lens delights users with a comprehensive array of features, a wide variety of functions and an intuitive handling concept. Apart from its fast zoom lens, further outstanding highlights of the camera are a high-resolution electronic viewfinder, 4K video capability and an integrated WiFi module for remote control of the camera from a smartphone or tablet PC and wireless transmission of still pictures and video. The Leica Image Shuttle app required for this function can be downloaded free of charge and installed on iOS or Android devices.

The Leica D-Lux Explorer Kit will be available worldwide beginning on March 22nd. To match its ‘mountaineering adventure’ look, the set is presented in a specially designed packaging with scenes from the world of nature.
