Leica Photoville in New York City



Through the Leica Pavillion at Photoville attendees will gain first-hand exposure to Leica equipment and hear from photographers about both the art, as well as the technical aspects of photography. A series of daily lectures, photowalks, loan programs and hands-on demos are scheduled:

No Plan B: The Talk

Learn about life on the road as an assignment photographer and the nuances of working at a large media company in this fun and lighthearted talk with renowned photographer David Carol. David’s photography career from his start in 1984 as the first assignment photographer for The Image Bank photo agency through his 29 years as Director of Photography at CBS outdoor to his current gig as Co-Founder of Peanut Press, a publisher of photography books.

Leica Storytellers: The Geography of Hate

Immerse yourself in a visual story like no other with Lynn Johnson. In 2000 Lynn began documenting the places where extreme acts of violence took place in the United States for Master’s degree thesis at the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University. Her project, “Hate Kills,” took her to locations where hate crimes had occurred. Such as the scene where white supremacists murdered James Byrd, Jr., an African American, by chaining him to a pickup truck and dragging him on the road.
