Leica to release a firmware update to fix dead/stuck pixels in the Q2 Monochrom camera

I received reports from readers about a potential dead/stuck pixel issue with the Leica Q2 Monochrom camera when shooting in high ISO (between 3,200 and 16,000). Identical problems were present on multiple cameras and there is even a thread on that topic at LUF. I was told that Leica will soon release a firmware update to fix this issue.

You can test your Leica Q2 Monochrom camera for dead/stuck pixels by putting the lens cap on, manually focusing to infinity, set the shutter speed to 1/125, and only change the ISO from 200 all the way up to 12,500 and then back down to 200. The dead/stuck pixels should show up around ISO 3,200 and disappeared again when you go back down. To eliminate sensor overheating, make sure you take only a dozen of shots and then wait for the sensor to cool down.

The Leica Q2 Monochrom camera is now in stock in the US at Adorama and B&H.
