CultureWorks Brands Kick-off Event & Content Series with Leica Camera to Celebrate Leading Creatives in the Field of Photography

NEW YORK (September 16, 2021) – CultureWorks, the parent company of the international photography museum Fotografiska, and NeueHouse, the private work and social space for creators, announced today a partnership with Leica Camera, the international, premium manufacturer of cameras and sports optics. This program will see the brands join forces to support, promote and celebrate the world’s most talented creatives working in the medium of photography.

Josh Wyatt, CEO and Co-founder of CultureWorks, says –

We’re thrilled to partner with an incredible brand such as Leica who has long championed artists, to uplift and spotlight creators in the field of photography. Both Fotografiska and NeueHouse are brands dedicated to celebrating the arts and the communities who push culture forward. This partnership is in perfect alignment with our mission to shape the future of how we gather, connect, and experience culture together as a society.

“This partnership is a union of two cultural icons of photography,” says Mike Giannattasio, President of Leica Camera North America, “combining Fotografiska’s storied history as the premier institution for experiencing photography with Leica’s innovative and iconic camera equipment has resulted in a partnership that can shape our collective visual narrative as we know it.”

The partnership will kick-off this fall with a call for entries for the annual Leica Women Foto Project, a platform created by Leica Camera USA to encourage diversity and inclusion in visual storytelling and empower photographers to demonstrate the importance and impact of a woman’s point of view. Three winners will be selected by a jury of 10 renowned figures in photography – including Amanda Hajjar, Director of Exhibitions at Fotografiska New York – to each receive $10K, a Leica SL2-S camera and Vario-Elmarit 24-70 ASPH. lens to support the completion of a personal photo project. Following the selection of winners, Fotografiska New York will host an installation of the Awardee’s photography, on view for the general public to experience in-person on International Women’s Day 2022.

Amanda Hajjar, Director of Exhibitions at Fotografiska New York, says –

Fotografiska is proud to partner with and host this year’s Leica Women Foto Project. A goal of Fotografiska’s exhibition program is to promote a diversity of perspectives through photography, and is something we have championed since our opening in December 2019. Through the Leica Women Foto Project we are able to amplify this mission and bring female and non-binary voices to the forefront. We look forward to reviewing the submissions!

“Leica’s strategic partnership with Fotografiska and Neuehouse reaffirms our commitment to the art of photography and the unique culture that has emerged from it,” says Kiran Karnani, VP of Marketing for Leica Camera North America, “it is through initiatives like these that we are able to share our dedication to photography and expand upon the way we see and express our visual stories.”

In addition to collaborating on the Leica Women Foto Project, Fotografiska and Leica will co-host 12 Leica Akademie Workshops at Fotografiska New York on a monthly basis, beginning September 26, 2021. The series continues Leica’s long tradition of photographic education through experiential workshops offered in cities across North America. The Akademie’s goal is to increase the fun and enjoyment of photography, expand photographic knowledge and bring the total Leica experience to photographers of all skill levels.

In support of Leica’s campaign, The World Deserves a Witness, NeueHouse will also create a four-part content series for their editorial platform, NeueJournal, to highlight new and emerging talent in the field of photography. Lastly, both Fotografiska and NeueHouse members will have the opportunity to participate in the Leica-on-Loan Program, an initiative created to encourage people to pick up a camera and document the world around them..

Karolina Dmowska, Director of Partnerships at CultureWorks, says –

Fotografiska and NeueHouse brands are both deeply rooted in providing platforms to communities of creators. We are delighted to partner with Leica to bring about a breadth of original programming, as well as share the stories of a new generation of artists, over the coming year. We could not think of a more natural and thoughtful partner.

Leica products will also be sold at the new NeueHouse MSQ Gallery retail space, opening this September.
