Leica M3 camera from 1959 listed for $10k sold for over $100k at LP Fotos Auktioner in Stockholm, Sweden


A Leica M3 camera No.959420 from 1959 sold for SEK 1,120,000 (around $106,000) at an auction held by LP Fotos Auktioner in Stockholm. The initial asking price was SEK 110,000 ($10,640) but the camera sold for SEK 1,120,000 ($106,000) – somebody basically paid 10x the asking price. The last bid increased the price from SEK 330,000 to SEK 1,120,000. According to the description, the winding mechanism of the camera has been replaced with an M4 type and much of the black paint has worn off from the base plate and other parts (via Kamera Bild).
