New Voigtländer APO-ULTRON 90mm f/2 VM lens for Leica M-mount announced

Cosina announced a new Voigtländer APO-ULTRON 90mm f/2 VM lens for Leica M-mount. Here are the details (pre-orders not opened yet):

Lens specifications:

Lens main features:

Apochromatic Design

It uses an apochromatic design that reduces the axial chromatic aberration of the RGB components that make up the three primary colors of light as close to zero as possible.

High performance and compact

The newly designed optical system uses anomalous partial dispersion glass for six of the eight elements in seven groups. Despite its high performance, the lens has a total length of 63.3 mm (from the mount surface), and vignetting of the shooting frame when using a rangefinder is suppressed.

Beautiful bokeh with 12 aperture blades

A 12-blade aperture is used to make the aperture shape closer to a circle, resulting in natural depiction of out-of-focus areas and soft, round bokeh of point light sources rather than polygonal.

Dedicated metal hood included

The included metal hood has a bayonet-type fitting and can be attached in reverse when stored. It maintains the compact size of the main body and is convenient to carry.

Manual focus for precise focus control

The all-metal helicoid unit is machined and adjusted with high precision, and the use of high-quality grease that produces just the right amount of torque makes focusing feel smooth and allows for subtle focus adjustments.

Bayonet VM mount

The lens mount is the VM mount, which is compatible with the Leica M mount. It can be used with rangefinder cameras, and also has a well-balanced design when attached to a mirrorless digital camera via a mount adapter.

Equipped with rangefinder interlocking system

The high-precision rangefinder linkage mechanism enables precise focusing even at maximum aperture.

Full size image circle

It has a generous image circle that is compatible with full-frame 35mm format, and is extremely compact in size compared to interchangeable lenses for SLR cameras.

Cosina has announced the APO-ULTRON 90mm F2 VM, a central telephoto lens designed exclusively for full-size VM mounts from the Foctrender brand.
APO-ULTRON 90mm F2 VM is a manual focus large caliber medium telephoto lens optimized for full size M mount sensors.
The newly designed optical system uses abnormal partially dispersed glass in 6 out of 8 seven groups. In addition to the high image quality of Apokromart design, which allows the upper color harvest to zero, the simple structure that extends the entire lens and a variable zonar type lens configuration using an air lens, resulting in a focal length of 90mm and a compactness of 63.3mm. Along with excellent portability, the kerare of shooting frames when using optical rangefinder is also reduced.
Additionally, 12 squeezes are adopted in order to make the tsubori feathers close to a round shape. This lens allows for a “large background blurring” photographic expression with a longer focal length and the large caliber of F2.
This lens is designed for use in distance meter-linked digital and film cameras. Equipped with a high-precision distance meter linkage mechanism, silky operation sensation from a total metal helicoid ring, and the flavor of a traditional optical rangefinder gives you the taste of pint. The shortest shooting distance associated with the distance meter is 0.9m (depends on the camera you’re mounting).
You can also install Sony E-mount, Fujifilm X-mount, and Nikon Z-mount digital cameras via our mount adapter. Two exterior finishes available: silver and black.
Comes with a special bayonet-style metal hood that can be reverse attached and convenient to carry.
