SUB13 produced and shipped a small batch of Leica M10 and Leica M11 underwater housings

SUB13 has just produced and shipped Production Run IV for Leica M10 and Leica M11, limited to only 13 units. Their small in-house team of four builds fully functional underwater housings for Leica cameras (see previous coverage). Founded by Matt Draper, SUB13 began as a pursuit to fuse the manual focus rangefinder with his fine art printmaking, evolving into the industrial design brand it is today.

“In all honesty, Production Run IV is the housing I set out to build nearly a decade ago, but it could only be achieved through the time, experience, and team it has taken to get us here today.

Art is subjective, and SUB13 is not immune to the ‘whys’ and ‘whats’ that come with anything Leica-associated. This started as a personal project that gained more and more interest over the years. My approach to these builds has always been one of commitment, drawing from industrial design, engineering, and horology.

If it is not for you, that is fine, but what cannot be debated is the time, effort, and financial investment placed into each individual unit. The level of detail is exceptional, and that is what I am most proud of, taking the time and putting in the resources to build something with true conviction. That is where the real value comes from.”
