Update on the upcoming handmade, fully mechanical LTM rangefinder film camera by the Suzuki Handmade Camera Factory in Japan
Here is an update on the latest development of the handmade, fully mechanical LTM rangefinder film camera by the Suzuki Handmade Camera Factory in Japan (previously reported here):
- Progress of Prototype No.1 (approx. 70%):
- All exterior cover components are completed (machined from solid steel ingots).
- Most of the shutter mechanism components are also completed (machined from bar stock, including handmade springs)
- Currently in production: optical components (currently being machined from solid glass material)
- Camera key features:
- A unique body and cover machined entirely from solid steel blocks.
- Extremely high flange-focal-distance accuracy achieved through precision grinding.
- All processes carried out by a single individual: design, machining, tooling, and machine maintenance (all parts are produced using manual machine tools).
- Future schedule
- Prototype No.1: planned completion around June 2026
- Prototype No.2: scheduled from June to December 2026
- Prototype No.3 (first production model): planned to begin in 2027
