Light Lens Lab 50mm f/1.5 “Z21” lens for Leica M-mount now available
Light Lens Lab officially released their new 50mm f/1.5 Z21 lens for Leica M-mount (previously reported here), based on the iconic Angenieux Type S21 50mm f/1.5. The lens can be purchased directly from the LLL website, eBay, or from PopFlash in the US.

- Homage to the legendary 50mm f/1.5 “S21”
- Closely follows the original element design and performance characteristics with improvements in contrast and line transfer.
- Six elements in a four-group design
- A newly developed rangefinder focusing mechanism allows for tighter tolerances and more accurate focusing.
- Support digital sensor frame coverage up to 44x33mm, a significant change to the original design.
- Minimum focus distance (MFD) of 0.7 meters
- Lightweight aluminum alloy body construction
- In-house manufactured, Lanthanide-infused elements specifically designed for the 50mm f/1.5 “Z21”
- Each lens is handcrafted and assembled in limited quantities, with utmost quality control and tolerance.
- Available in High-Gloss Black Paint, with Matte Black Paint available upon request for those with Black-Chrome Cameras.

The 50mm f/1.5 “Z21” marks the beginning of the Light Lens Lab “Z21” project, with plans to expand into other focal lengths based on its optical performance characteristics for photography and cinematic use in 2026. Additionally, this will kick off the introduction of our “Classic” and “Modern” series. Our first “Modern” series lens will be announced in 2025.
