Leica M12 camera rumors recap

Here are the latest Leica M12 camera rumors:

New Gpixel sensor (which probably also means a new processor, battery, etc).
The Leica M12 could come in two different versions: fixed-bottom base plate or classic removable (“Heritage” edition).
Leica tested IBIS for the M12 model – not sure if it will be implemented.
Leica M12 re-designed controls possible:
- The ISO dial on the top left could be completely removed
- Large 3.9″ screen on the back (the M11 has a 2.95″ screen)
- The large screen could also mean changing the layout of the buttons on the back of the camera (or maybe removing them altogether).
The Leica M12 camera could be 3mm shorter.
The M12 could feature a smart hybrid vision rangefinder (classic rangefinder experience + EVF benefits, similar to the Fuji X100 camera).
The Leica M12 trademark is still listed as “dead/abandoned” – possibly because other companies already own the “M12” trademark. The Leica M12 trademark status in the United States Patent and Trademark Office is currently listed as “active”.
The M12 is rumored to be released in 2027.
