After the closing of the Leica Store SoHo in NYC, Kamerahaus Inc. announces the opening of a unique new camera store for used Leica gear in NYC’s NoHo neighborhood – just a few blocks north of the previous Leica Store SoHo. Here are the details:
December 16, 2024, New York, NY – Kamerahaus Inc. announced today its store opening, led by owner Craig Williams, a highly experienced NYC retail camera leader for over 30 years. The store will focus on Leica cameras, especially the used camera market, working as well with an entire range of other high-end and collectible cameras.
Williams has been at the helm of two of the leading businesses in the NYC photography retail scene—Tamarkin New York and The Leica Store SoHo. At Tamarkin he helped lead the business into the auction sphere with Tamarkin Photographica. His management expertise at the Leica Store SoHo, one of the first Leica Stores in the US, contributed substantially to the meteoric rise of Leica on the international photographic scene.
Williams noted that, “I am excited to open Kamerahaus Inc, especially because I see it as a return to the kind of increasingly rare photo business–where customers for Leicas and other cameras can get in-depth service and the kind of technical expertise they crave. Kamerahaus will serve primarily as a specialized boutique for used cameras, a market that’s been overlooked in the photography retail sector. Williams said that “the very fact that Leica products endure so well creates a perfect environment for a robust used camera sales environment. In addition to Leica cameras, we plan to work with a broad range of other brands, including Leica, Contax, Voigtlander, Rolleiflex, Nikon and Zeiss.”
