The construction relies on the traditional frame stitching technique – considered the crown discipline of bag making – ensuring unparalleled durability, form stability, and understated elegance. A technique mastered by the finest artisans of their trade.

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, the Signature Line adapts to a wide range of camera systems, from compact Leica Q setups to extensive M collections. Customizable padded interiors protect valuable equipment, while the discreet exterior reflects Oberwerth’s vision of “quiet luxury.”

Additional information on the “Frame Sewing” technique – the master discipline of leatherworking

The so-called frame stitching technique (also known as frame seam or frame stitch) is one of the most complex and traditional methods used in fine leather goods manufacturing and in high-quality shoe and bag craftsmanship. It is characterized by a double connection between the material and the frame, which ensures exceptional stability, durability, and a distinctive shape. The bags in Oberwerth’s Signature Line represent the quintessence of the craftsmanship and perfection required for this technique.

This technique involves more than just joining two pieces of leather together. The aim is to create a supporting structure that combines stability, precision, and aesthetic perfection. The frame becomes the backbone of the bag—it gives it its distinctive, slightly angular shape and guarantees its durability for decades to come. Every seam, every stitch requires the utmost concentration, a steady hand, and years of experience.

Basic principle: When frame sewing, an additional leather frame – usually a narrow, particularly durable strip – is inserted between the main leather (upper leather) and the lining or intermediate layers. This frame stabilizes the shape, serves as a support for the seam, and emphasizes the lines of the bag.

Process: First, the frame is cut to size and pre-shaped. It is then placed between the upper leather and the lining and fixed in place. Using special needles and thread, a seam is sewn through all layers – upper leather, frame, and lining. Finally, the edges are sanded, polished, waxed, or dyed to achieve a perfect visual result.

Special feature: The frame sewing technique is considered one of the most challenging craftsmanship tasks. It requires multi-layer processing, absolute precision, physical strength, and dexterity. Even the smallest deviations would be immediately visible. In addition, the process is extremely time-consuming, often taking several hours per bag.

Result: The finished seam is extremely durable and gives the bag a sculptural contour and an aura of durability. Each bag becomes a work of art—durable, distinctive, and an expression of the highest craftsmanship.

The frame sewing technique not only gives our bags exceptional durability, but also a characteristic look: a harmony of form and function that is immediately recognizable as Oberwerth. This makes our signature bag not just an accessory, but a work of art that bears the signature of our masters and will accompany its owner for a lifetime.
