The Oberwerth Everready for the Leica Q3 reinterprets the classic ever-ready case – the leather bag that has accompanied Leica cameras for generations – and adapts the concept to a modern full-frame compact. Rather than a single fixed cover, Oberwerth splits the design into two connected parts that work together or independently, addressing the way photographers actually move between protecting and shooting their camera.
At its core is a 2-in-1 construction. A camera-specific half case with an integrated soft grip forms the base, while a separate upper section provides full ever-ready protection around the body and lens. The two parts are joined by two press studs and separate in a single motion, so the fully enclosed case becomes an open half case in seconds, with no tools and no need to unscrew the camera. The front flap folds all the way down to clear the lens for shooting, and the camera’s standard lens hood can remain mounted throughout.
The half case attaches to the camera via an integrated screw with an internal thread. Because that thread also accepts a standard tripod screw, the half case can be mounted on a tripod on its own – the camera stays usable in either configuration. Soft inner lining and precise stitching protect the body against scratches and knocks, while keeping the overall profile slim.
Two details set this Everready apart from a conventional half case. A dedicated interior slot holds a spare SD card within reach, and a concealed compartment accepts an Apple AirTag, allowing the case and camera to be tracked discreetly together – a practical safeguard for a camera in this price class. Both additions are integrated into the leather rather than added as afterthoughts, preserving the clean exterior.
As with other current Oberwerth half cases, the Everready is handcrafted from the brand’s full-grain leather, sourced from a tannery certified to the Leather Working Group (LWG) Gold standard, the highest rating in the LWG’s independent environmental audit for the leather industry. The leather is structured and tactile, develops a natural patina over time, and maintains the understated aesthetic that defines the current Oberwerth range. The case is offered in black with red contrast stitching and is built for Leica Q3 owners who want comprehensive protection without sacrificing quick access or a low-key look.
