I’m very dissappointed :( I was expecting to see something like Charlie’s tour of the Chocolate Factory. Where are all the Leica Oompa-Loompas? :)

What a joke. I can’t believe the invited these people to tour the factory. The interview with Peter Karbe was so embarrassing. Not for him, just for the sheer incompetence of the people talking to him. I know these people have some reach on the web with their egotistical websites, but they should have either invited some proper journalists or some proper photographers. Not the bunch of muppets they did invite. Farkas is the only one of them who I would pay any attention to.

Enjoyed the Leica M9 assembly video. An extreme amount of attention lavished on each camera. Each step of the process documented and testor signed for. Leica clearly deserves it’s ISO ???? certification (I suspect that Leica surpasses it’s deignated ISO standards by a wide margin – from what was shown). Kudos to Leica for a job incredibly well done.

Also loved their sensor cleaner stick – anyone know where to buy one???

Yes, did you hear the sound during the sensor cleaning? Weird.

The most interesting part was the sensor cleaning… Everyone is careful with blowers and little dainty brushes, and she was BRUTAL on that sensor… Comparatively…

Where do I get those tools?

The section where they checked and adjusted the focus was also a surprise. Nice test bed. The surprise was the “multiple” tests at various focus distances. I’d love to see a comparative video showing how a typical (and/or pro) DLSR is tested/adjusted for focus accuracy. With a Leica M9, if the shot is “out of focus” there is little doubt that it is the “users” fault. Thanks again for posting this and the links.

Was inthe Leica Store in Paris today. Wonderful and helpful people! A spotless shop, with a number or “surprises” . A MUST when in Paris!
The director handed me the M9, as soon as I walked in. He Knew why I was there! The shutter is very quiet and the camera is fabulous to hold, and I know will be wonderful to use, and to “just get back to basics”, even though it is in Digital.
    Just as promised by Solms.
