leica m8 firmware 2.005 Firmware 2.005 for Leica M8 & M8.2 now available online

The new firmware 2.005 for Leica M8 and M8.2 can be now downloaded from Leica's website.

What's fixed:

Resolving the error message "Shutter fault": When shooting in C-Mode (Continuous) or taking several pictures consecutively in S-Mode (Single), the message "Shutter Fault" may appear on the display.

Additional notes:

  • After updating to the new 2.005 firmware the LEICA M8 with quiet 1/4000s shutter and LEICA M8.2 can not be „downgraded“ to the previous firmware.
  • User profiles will be deleted during the update process and will need to be recreated after the firmware upgrade process.

how many years did it take them?
I’m not disappointed. I feel offended!

we want a 2.006 and now with some improvements.
selftimer 0,0 sec, direct ISO instead of the useless protect button and manual lens settings.
I’m preparred to pay fot that.

i didn’t expect much to begin with, but i feel this is a joke, quite a disappointing joke (regardless what loyal leica fans think). i am also wondering will this update actually fix the physical shutter fault, or will you still have a shutter fault but only without an error message.

What does the first additional note mean ?
I have a M8.0. If I upgrade to the last firmware, does it mean it will work like a M8.2, i.e. the shutter will be quieter but limited to a maximum speed of 1/4000 instead of original 1/8000 ?
Thanks for any feedback from who has upgraded.
