This Leica X1 limited edition was created for the 30th anniversary of the Parisian boutique and concept store L'Eclaireur. The camera was designed by Gilles Ouaki (see related Leic'art). 1930 pieces will be produced, the release date is October 14th. No word on the price of the camera.

but i like the irony of putting a FILM STRIP on a digital camera, and how this defeats the X1′s discreet design.

I kind of like it, as a conversation starter and an art piece in its own right. I don’t see myself buying one just to have it, though. One X1 is enough.

The X1 is shurely a very, very far sibling of Leica esthetics and Leica logic in the way it deals with the human eye and the human hand, the way it intermediates between photographer and reality around.
This bling version with ugly typography, disposition of graphics and pictures on the leatherette/vulcanite are true representatives of a photoshop-era.
This gotta be fake..
