Hi admin. I think the part about VME close adaptor is saying that the 40 lens is optimised for use with the VME adaptor. Google translate says “HELIAR (Helier) 40mm F2.8 is a lens * specially designed for the purpose that it is used in combination with the VM-E Close Focus Adapter.

    • Ok, thanks – so I guess there is no new adapter then. This was listed in their “News” section and I thought it was a new product.

The new 15mm sounds very promising. More complex design and larger dimensions makes me hope that it will be much less troublesome in digital use. I can’t wait to hear more about it and its performance and see real life shots with it in RAW.

That concave front element freaks my shit.

There’s no distance indicator on that 40mm. Interesting

Actually you can’t focus this lens on any Leica M camera since it’s devoid of focus helicoid. You have to use it in conjunction with the VM-E Close Focus Adapter (or any adapter with a helicoid) on an E-mount camera such as Sony Alpha 7.
