Leica S technology should “filter into high-end consumer products”

I got my hands on an email from a major photographic products reseller – most of the information is not new and just confirms that we should expect some fun Leica time ahead of us.

“Just to clarify Leica’s press release regarding the R system……

It is correct that the production of R system bodies and lenses have ceased production.

As far as a digital forward path…..
Leica currently have the M and S systems which are digital.
I am told by Lieca Camera AG that the existing “R” lenses will work with the new camera system.
Not sure of the details, as soon as I know more, I will let you all know.

Leica have invested a huge amount of development time and money into the “S’,
to produce another world’s first for the Professional imaging market.
Leica Camera AG learnt a great deal along the “S” journey,
and they have promised me that we will quickly see this technology filter into high-end consumer products.”
