Two new Voigtländer VM lenses: 10mm f/5.6 Hyper-Wide-Heliar and 12mm f/5.6 Ultra-Wide-Heliar III

Today Voigtländer announced two new lenses with VM mount:

  • 10mm f/5.6 Hyper-Wide-Heliar (new model)
  • 12mm f/5.6 Ultra-Wide-Heliar III (replacement for the previous model)

Shipping of the new lenses will start in Spring of 2016. Here is the press text from Voigtländer:

Voigtländer continues its VM-Mount digital optimization with the new 12mm f/5,6 Ultra-Wide-Heliar III. Additionally Voigtländer will also release the new 10mm f/5,6 Hyper-Wide-Heliar with VM-Mount.

Release date

    wow, 10mm! Is this now the widest rectilinear on full frame now? (surpasses Canon’s 11-24)

      Indeed, I think it is. It even beats the Canon 17 mm T/S in regard to AOV (the 17 mm T/S has an image circle of 67.2 mm, ie, it is essentially a ‘full-frame’ 6×4.5 MF lens, which if used on a MF camera would have an equivalent 35-mm focal length of 11 mm).
