Bringing the Leica M Typ 240 camera underwater with the Subal underwater housing

Loic Dorez took the Leica M Typ 240 camera underwater with the Subal underwater housing. You can check his website for some pictures (warning: NSFW images). Here is a video taken with the Leica M Typ 240 underwater:

Subal also makes an underwater housing for the Leica Q camera.

Hard to believe that so many people wanted video removed from the M series bodies. I’m hoping it returns at some point.

I thought it was removed to make the m10 smaller than the m240.

      • Ric Ricard

That is possible, but it is also possible that the M10 is smaller just as a result of 4 years progress in computer / camera technology. More people actually seemed to complain about the dedicated video button itself than the increased size of the M240.

It would have made more sense if leica had moved video option to menu and done away with button, thereby satisfying both. Unless of course the lack of video was a way to distinguish the m10 from the m240. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do a line of m10’s in the future with video as an option.

An M-P version of the camera that added video would be super cool. Much cooler than what we are likely to get which would be the same camera but no red dot and some added writing on the top plate.

  • The price of the housing is sooo much it hurts but it looks sooooo cool! Put this in the “One Day” column.
