This new DIGI SWAP gadget promises to “revive film cameras on iPhone”

This new DIGI SWAP gadget is supposed to be announced at the upcoming 2022 CP+ show in Japan and promises to “Revive film cameras on iPhone”. There is not much information available online, but from the pictures, I can guess that DIGI SWAP is a special bracket that lets you attach an iPhone to the back of a film camera and take pictures – something like a smartphone digital back for film cameras.  The project will of course be financed on Kickstarter.

The main parts are from machined aluminum. DIGI SWAP is designed to be attached to various film cameras. The shutter speed and aperture are set on the film camera and are synched with the iPhone app. The supported iPhone models are: X, XS, 11, 11pro, 12, 12pro, 13, 13pro. DIGI SWAP is patented in Japan and an international patent is pending.

Update – the official release is coming tomorrow.
