Breaking: Leica will bring back to life the M6 film camera!

It seems that my initial report about a new cheaper Leica M film camera was correct – Leica will indeed announce a cheaper film rangefinder:

Leica will bring back to life the M6 camera!

There are still some questions I do not have answers for (yet):

  • Leica M6 Classic or Leica M6 TTL?
  • Price?
  • Limited edition?
  • Any improvements over the original M6?
  • Why was the M6 chosen and not the M3? Did they find some old new stock M6 parts/cameras?
  • Why not improve the Leica MP further instead of bringing an old model back to life?

The new Leica M6 camera is rumored to be announced in October.

The old Leica M6 camera currently sells for $2,00-$3,000 on eBay.

The Leica M7 was discontinued back in 21018.

The Leica MP and Leica M-A film cameras seem to be still in production, but have been very hard to find and are usually out of stock in the US (you can get them cheaper in Europe):

Save over $1,000 by buying Leica M cameras from Europe (all Leica M film cameras in stock at Meister Camera)

The black Leica MP 0.72 rangefinder film camera will be in stock in… June 2027

Check out also the Large Leica M6 camera pin at the LR online store:

The colored anodized metal M body caps are also still available:

The picture above is of my own Leica M6 TTL 0.58 I bought dirt cheap years ago with a red cap from the online store.
