Abrahamsson Rapidwinder for Leica M cameras

Meister Camera posted on their Facebook page about the Abrahamsson Rapidwinder and I realized that in the past 15 years I never covered that product here on the LeicaRumors (Meister Camera currently has two used pieces in stock, eBay also has plenty of mint listings):

“The Abrahamsson Rapidwinder was first manufactured in 1987 by the Canadian photographer and industrial designer. Since then, the construction, based on the Leicavit MP, has enjoyed growing popularity among Leica photographers. One reason for this was that the original Leicavit MP is not usable on modern Leica measuring cameras and Leica did not offer a mechanical express lift until the reintroduction of the Leicavit M in 2003. The Rapidwinder manufactured by Tom Abhamson is usable in the normal series version on all Leica M-cameras from the Leica M4-2 upwards. In addition, there was a version for use with the Leica M2. Extremely rare is the Rapidwinder M2-IXMOO, a special edition of the regular RapidwinderM2. The difference from the normal Rapidwinder M2 is that the RapidwinderM2-IXMOO can be used in conjunction with the Leica IXMOO film cassette. Only 100 were made of this special model.”
